The 47th Session of the Committee on Information (COI) will take place from 28 April to 9 May 2025 at United Nations Headquarters in New York. The Committee on Information deals with questions relating to public information.

- Consideration of reports submitted by the Secretary-General:
- Report of the Secretary-General on the activities of the Department of Global Communications: campaigns and country operations services (A/AC.198/2025/2);
- Report of the Secretary-General on the activities of the Department of Global Communications: news services (A/AC.198/2025/3);
- Report of the Secretary-General on the activities of the Department of Global Communications: outreach and knowledge services (A/AC.198/2025/4).
The Committee on Information is a subsidiary body of the General Assembly, established by the General Assembly to deal with questions relating to public information.
The Committee on Information is responsible for overseeing the work of the Department of Global Communications and for providing it with guidance on policies, programmes and activities of the Department.
COI Mandate: In its resolution 34/182 of 18 December 1979, the General Assembly outlined the mandate of the Committee on Information as follows:
- To continue to examine United Nations public information policies and activities, in the light of the evolution of international relations, particularly during the past two decades, and of the imperatives of the establishment of the new international economic order and of a new world information and communication order;
- To evaluate and follow up the efforts made and the progress achieved by the United Nations system in the field of information and communications; and
- To promote the establishment of a new, more just and more effective world information and communication order intended to strengthen peace and international understanding and based on the free circulation and wider and better-balanced dissemination of information and to make recommendations thereon to the General Assembly.
